Pitso Mosimane has given his verdict on coaches of Jose Riveiro, Nasreddine Nabi and Miguel Cardoso, offering varying views over the three tacticians.
South Africa’s ‘Big Three’ are all under foreign coaches with Orlando Pirates under Spanish Riveiro, Kaizer Chiefs managed by Tunisian Nabi while Portuguese Cardoso was handed the reins at Mamelodi Sundowns last December.
Mosimane, who enjoyed a trophy-laden eight years at Sundowns, has lauded the work being done by Riveiro at Pirates, the Spanish coach having won five trophies in two-and-a-half years, and is challenging for the CAF Champions League and PSL title this season.
Mosimane lauds Riveiro, doubts Nabi

“Orlando Pirates has a very good coach, fantastic, on a roll, we should not disturb them,” Mosimane, who terminated his contract with Iranian giants Esteghlal last month over non-payment of his salary, told 5FM radio presenter Xoli Zondo.
Jingles, who has been linked with the Chiefs job before, then weighed in on Nabi’s stint so far. The former AS FAR and Yanga coach has struggled for consistency at Naturena, with his team fifth on the log, and Mosimane had a damning verdict.
“Kaizer Chiefs, ok, Nabi is trying to do something, he's getting there. He's not really convincing, I guess he's trying his best,” he said, regarding the Tunisian, who arrived last July.
What does Pitso make of Sundowns?

Mosimane then went into details over his former club, suggesting they will continue dominating not just because they have deep pockets, but also due to the strong foundations he laid when he was at the club.
“The billionaires [Sundowns] are good, they can always buy anybody, anything, and they can buy Pep [Guardiola] if they want. So, they don't need help,” added the former Al Ahly coach.
“I'm happy that we have left them at a better place and look how they are doing. I'm proud to look back, you know when somebody says ‘Ah there was a mess' and I had to sort it out? There's no mess I left there. I left trophies.”
Mosimane is now without a job after exiting Esteghlal but he is widely regarded as the most successful South African coach, following the five PSL titles and Champions League he won at Sundowns, between 2012 and 2020.
He has also coached Al Ahli Saudi and Abha in the same Gulf nation as well as Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates.
