Rele Mofokeng gives big hint over his Orlando Pirates future amid Europe links

Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng has given a hint that his future lies at the club amid reports linking him with a move to Europe.

Mofokeng has been attracting interest from Europe following his brilliant season with Pirates with teams in Israel and United States reported to be keen on him.

The signing of Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City has also been interpreted by some as an indication that Pirates are preparing for Rele’s departure but the 20-year-old appears ready for next season with the Soweto giants.

“I feel alive. Football is back, we're back, so that brings back my life. The rest was short but then it's work, what can we say? We have to get going,” Mofokeng said in a chat with team-mate Sipho Chaine as they arrived in Spain for pre-season.

Mofokeng will now be working under a new coach after Moroccan Abdeslam Ouaddou, who replaced Jose Riveiro, and there have also been a host of signings brought in by the club to beef up the squad.

So far, Pirates have signed Appollis, Sipho Mbule (free), Yanela Mbuthuma (Richards Bay), Masindi Nemtajela (Marumo Gallants), Tshepang Moremi (AmaZulu), Nkosikhona Ndaba (Richards Bay), Sinoxolo Kwayiba (Chippa United), Tshepo Mashiloane (Baroka) and Sihle Nduli (Stellenbosch) and Mofokeng is looking forward to working with them.

“They are coming alright. I think they must just get used to us and everything [else] we will see as time goes,” Mofokeng said regarding the new arrivals.

Mofokeng was Pirates’ best player last season as he scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists and the Buccaneers are hoping to keep him next season as they look to challenge both domestically and in the CAF Champions League.
