REVEALED: How much Sundowns want for in-demand Teboho Mokoena

Teboho Mokoena’s representative Lance Davids has revealed how much Mamelodi Sundowns want to let go of the in-demand central midfielder.

Interest in Mokoena from international clubs has been growing, attributed to his remarkable performances at both the club and national team levels.

His outstanding showings at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year in Ivory Coast have further heightened interest in the former SuperSport United

He has been linked with the Egyptian giants Al Ahly, unnamed French and English clubs.

Davids says Sundowns want €5 million for Mokoena to let Mokoena go. He expressed concerns that this valuation may hinder the potential move, as European clubs can often acquire players of similar quality at significantly lower prices from West Africa.

AGENT ON HOW MUCH SUNDOWNS WANT FOR MOKOENA

“The prices are crazy, Tebogo is €5 million?,” asked Davids.

“If you ask me, yes of course you can but again coming from South Africa – PSL, one of the best leagues in Africa but if you go to West Africa, you can get someone like that cheaper.

“And it’s always these boys’ dreams (to play in Europe). I know Tebogo wants to…we wanna try and make it.”

Responding to the question about the player's decision to sign a new contract despite his desire to pursue opportunities abroad, Davids indicated that the competitions in which the Brazilians will participate could still serve as a catalyst for Mokoena's overseas ambitions.

WHY MOKWENA SIGNED DOWNS EXTENSION IF HE STILL WANTS OVERSEAS MOVE

“At the end, we have to always look at the player’s future. It’s not nice to fight with clubs because people always look at the agents as if we want to fight and want more money,” he added.

“But we are always have to look at what the player wants. That also affects players, how we fight behind the scenes.

“It’s not good.

“It’s not always the agent that’s on the frontline, myself, I had my time (of playing football). So, I don’t want to be in the front line.

“So, we always listen to our players also. But we can still make it (to Europe), why not?

“They have the Club World Cup now coming up, they have the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

“So, you never say never. And you also have the Middle East that’s opening up for African players also.”
