Orlando Pirates are set to host Stade d'Abidjan on Saturday night in Caf Champions League's Group C outing at the Orlando Stadium.
The Buccaneers were held to a 1-1 draw in the initial meeting played in Ivory Coast, after squandering several chances to finish off their opponents. The MTN8 champions will have another opportunity to correct their wrongs in front of their fans.
Currently, Bucs are third in the group with five points, two less than leaders Al Ahly, while CR Belouizdad have six.
However, to stand a chance of securing maximum points, Coach Jose Riveiro has pointed out an area of concern that should be fixed by the Sea Robbers prior to the meeting at 18.00 SAT.
Pirates must reduce possibilities in certain areas
“We are a good team but inexperienced in this competition, not only the players but the coaches. It's a new space for us,” he told the media.
“We are competing at a very good level and it is a good platform for our youngsters, especially when playing teams like Abidjan. We need to be aware of how to compete in these kind of matches.
“How we must reduce possibilities in some specific scenarios. For example how they dealt with us on set-pieces in the first leg in Ivory Coast. We were punished in those situations, they used their chance. There are tricky things like blockers in the set pieces. Hopefully, we can do a better job in those scenarios.
“We must learn to reduce the areas where the opponents can be better than us. These kinds of games will always be decided by small margins and small details,” the Spaniard concluded.
