Wydad Casablanca head coach Rulani Mokwena has identified three key areas where he believes South Africa's Premier Soccer League (PSL) can learn from Morocco's Botola Pro.
Mokwena, who joined Wydad six months ago after departing Mamelodi Sundowns, is currently rebuilding the team following a challenging season.
The 38-year-old tactician has commended the Botola Pro for its implementation of Video Assistant Referee (VAR), consistent use of the same match ball across all games, and the provision of high-quality facilities.
Mokwena believes these factors contribute significantly to the overall quality and professionalism of the league.
WHAT PSL MUST LEARN FROM BOTOLA PRO
“The usage of VAR, it is still not accepted or used in South Africa and here it's a consistent feature,” Mokwena said in an interview with CAF TV.
“I'm yet to play a match in Morocco in a bad field. The surface, the facilities are amazing and that's a lot of credit to the government, the people involved. They understand you need a good surface for a good game.
“And another thing that is a minutiae but an important detail, is that they use the same ball for all the matches and this is what I was advocating a lot in South Africa.
“In South Africa you play against a team sponsored by a certain brand and use that match ball, the next match you use another different match ball. There's a lot of irregularity with regards to the technical consistency with the players.”
