The University of the Western Cape (UWC) strengthened their position in Group A of the CAF Women's Champions League Morocco 2024, securing a crucial 2-0 victory over Aigles De La Medina on Tuesday afternoon in El Jadida.

Molatelo Kobo and Ntombifikile Ndlovu rattled the back of the net, propelling the Cape Town-based side to the victory, significantly boosting their chances of advancing to the next round. UWC will face hosts AS FAR in their final group stage match.

Both teams entered the match eager for a victory after poor starts in their opening Group A fixtures. UWC had lost 2-0 to TP Mazembe, while Aigles De La Medina suffered a 3-0 defeat to hosts AS FAR on Saturday.

IT WAS 0-0 AT HALF-TIME

Both sides couldn’t hit the net in the first half despite many attempts looking for an opener.

The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when substitute Molatelo Kobo capitalised on a defensive error to score from close range.

This goal shifted the momentum in favour of the South Africans, who continued to press for a second.

Ntombifikile Ndlovu doubled the lead in the 66th minute with a well-placed chip. Despite Aigles De La Medina's efforts to mount a comeback, goalkeeper Thandeka Ngcobo maintained a clean sheet for UWC.
