‘Someone has given instructions against Lorch but less Chiefs players in Bafana, the better!’

Published on by

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his preliminary squad for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

South Africa are set to play Zimbabwe in Group C's matchday 8 before completing their campaign with a home game against Rwanda's Amavubi; two wins – assuming the team is docked three points, will guarantee Broos' men a place in the global competition to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Have a look at what the fans said after Broos unveiled the initial squad to represent the nation.

We don't know what Tito is going to do

Talent in South Africa is going to give Hugo Broos a headache when he selects his final squad –  Rorisang Matsoake

We all know who is missing in that Bafana Bafana squad, Thembinkosi Lorch –  Lorch Lehlogonolo

11 Orlando Pirates players, that's the whole starting lineup! Meanwhile, the best team in South Africa, Sekhukhune United, has only two players, wow! And they will be dropped, shame – Da Gaffér

We know Patrick Maswanganyi might even go to the World Cup. We don’t know what he’s going there for, but he will be there – Mft Mambu

Even if Tshegofatso Mabasa can score 100 goals, he won't get a call-up from Madala Hugo Broos – Sandile Skay Zondi

Mofokeng is there to warm the bench

Sticking with the same players is what gives this coach the results; players are used to each other. Credit to you, Hugo Broos – Abóngile Il

I have started to believe that someone higher than the coach has given instructions against selecting Thembinkosi Lorch – Fred Moo Mooketsi

Relebohile Mofokeng is there just to warm the bench; Bafana Bafana is not a playground – Madumakude

Lol! The less Kaizer Chiefs players we have there, the better – Karabo Israel Rogers

Only crying for Fawaaz Basadien, he is too good to be benched by Sundowns, he made a mistake by joining Mamelodi Sundowns FC while they have Devine Lunga and Aubrey Modiba – Mohale Isaac Senyolo
