Bafana Bafana are set for their final warmup match against Ghana on Tuesday before they depart for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Hugo Broos’ men will gauge their level of preparedness for the continental competition against a star-less Ghana side that is made up of local-based players.

While Ghana are popularly known as the Black Stars, South Africa will host the Black Galaxies (Ghana B), a team of players who play at home, who are using the match as a tune up for the 2026 African Nations Championships qualifiers.
It therefore does not present a major threat but it is a good way to build up for AFCON for coach Hugo Broos, who has avoided a high-calibre opponent ahead of the tournament.
While it is a team of novices, they are still Ghana and will look to upset their fancied hosts at the Dobsonville Stadium on Tuesday.

South Africa are unbeaten since AFCON 2023, a run of 24 matches without defeat which they will be looking to protect against Ghana B.
Ghana and South Africa have faced off 16 times and have an even record of five wins each and six draws. Their last meeting was in November 2021, when Ghana won 1-0 in a 2022 World Cup qualifier, having lost the corresponding fixture by the same margin two months earlier.

Bafana Bafana have a near-full house after Romania-based defender Siyabonga Ngezana arrived in camp on Sunday with only three players yet to join Broos’ squad.
Belgium-based Shandre Campbell, Burnley’s Lyle Foster and midfielder Sphephelo Sithole, who plays in Portugal, will fly directly to Marrakech given the team will leave South Africa for Morocco on Wednesday.
What has been said?
The West Africans have been training in Dobsonville ahead of the match and remain confident of pulling an upset on Bafana Bafana.
“This game is an opportunity for the Black Galaxies to prove that they are a very good side. I am happy to have this friendly but my team is not under any pressure. We believe in building and that is exactly what I am doing,” said Ghana B coach Kasim Mingle Ocansey.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has said it will be a practice match that will see most of his non-regulars play.
“It would be good to play the team that will start at the AFCON (Bafana’s first Group B game is against Angola on December 22),” Broos said on Monday.
“But now, because players are not there we will give an opportunity to players who have not played with Bafana until now, or not so much. For example (Thabang) Matuludi, we can give him a chance to play with the team, to adapt to our way of playing.”

“This is a training game but we also want to win. So don’t think I am playing this game for a laugh and the players will also not think it is for a laugh. We will play like we always play and try to win like we always try,” he added.
Time and where to watch
The match will kick off at 16:00 South African time at the Dobsonville Stadium and will be televised on SABC Sport.
