Ex-SuperSport United attacker has been included in the squad for the prestigious competition

South African teen sensation Shandre Campbell will get an opportunity to feature in the prestigious UEFA Champions League after being included in Club Brugge’s squad for the competition.

Campbell, who joined the Belgian giants from SuperSport United in July, is settling in well at his new club and scored his debut goal last weekend, when featuring for the second-string side.

The 19-year-old was among players included by coach Nicky Hayen for their matches in Europe’s premier club competition which will kick off on September 18.

Who does Club Brugge face in the Champions League?

Club Brugge are in a tricky group that has German giants Borussia Dortmund, Italian side AC Milan, SK Sturm Graz from Austria, Scottish giants Celtic, Premier League club Aston Villa and Sporting Lisbon from Portugal.

Hayen’s men will begin their campaign with a tough home match against Dortmund on September 18.

It is a huge statement of endorsement for Campbell who has started his career at the Belgian club by featuring for their second-string side Club NXT.

Campbell opened his goal account for his new side in spectacular style when he smashed the ball in the top corner via a left-footed stunner last Saturday.

The teen sensation had been introduced with 18 minutes left when Club NXT were trailing 2-1 against Patro Eisden in the Belgium second division, popularly known as Challenger Pro League, and he wasted no time to make his presence felt.

He latched onto a loose ball just outside the box, controlled it, before firing an unstoppable shot on his left foot into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance, as his goal helped his side to a 2-2 draw.

Club NXT will face RFC Seraing in their next match on September 13 when Campbell will hope to earn his place in the starting XI.
