Sports Minister salutes Kaizer Chiefs star Glody Lilepo after wonder goal – ‘jealous down’

Published on by

Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie is among those who have been left in awe of Glody Lilepo’s goal for Kaizer Chiefs against Marumo Gallants.

Lilepo scored a glorious goal when he took a shot from over 40 yards out and into the net as Chiefs beat Gallants 1-0 to move to second place on the PSL table on Wednesday.

The Congolese forward picked the ball on the left wing and fired in a stunning shot that sailed into the net with Gallants goalkeeper Washington Arubi not able to do anything to keep it out.

That has sparked a conversation over whether it is the best goal scored so far this season but McKenzie has already crowned it Goal of the Season.

Has Lilepo ended goal of the season debate?

“I don’t think we will see a better goal this season, jealous down,” the Sports Minister posted on X.

However, not everyone agrees that Lilepo’s goal is the best with other contenders especially from Orlando Pirates.

Pirates fans feel Mbekezeli Mbokazi’s stunning strike against Siwelele FC in the Carling Knockout this season as well as youngster Camren Dansin’s wonder strike against Mamelodi Sundowns are also contenders.

Dansin’s goal was voted the November/December Goal of the Month and Lilepo’s strike will certainly win the January accolade but with the season still far from done, there could be more to rival them.
