Kaizer Chiefs technical team has been advised to drop defender Inacio Miguel since his form, currently, is wanting.
The 29-year-old has played every game for the club across all competitions, domestically and abroad. Zitha Kwinika has played three games, when Aden McCarthy was injured, but the likes of Given Msimango and Rushwin Dortley, who were out nursing an injury, haven't made any appearance.
The Soweto giants started by keeping five clean sheets in a row in the Premier Soccer League, but have since conceded four goals in the last two outings – 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United in PSL and 1-0 defeat against Kabuscorp in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Former South Africa international Mlungisi Ngubane has explained why Msimango should be given a chance.
Miguel struggles to deal with mobile and skillful players
“I'm starting to doubt the Angolan; he's too stiff for South African football and struggles to change direction. Miguel struggles to deal with mobile and skillful players. Kaizer Chiefs should focus on building the confidence of Given Msimango and consider resting Inacio Miguel,” he told KickOff.
“They need to invest in Msimango; Chiefs should prioritize younger center-backs. The reason Angola is no longer calling up Miguel is because his form has declined.
“The mistakes committed by Miguel were evident; there were many spaces behind the Kaizer Chiefs' defence during the game. He really didn't perform well [last weekend]. Chiefs must give these young defenders a chance,” Ngubane concluded.
It is interesting to see the changes Amakhosi will make on Wednesday when they play Marumo Gallants in the PSL.
