‘Sundowns are on another level’ – Fadlu Davids

Published on by

Simba SC coach Fadlu Davids has heaped praise on new Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Brazilians recently won their eighth league title in a row with a game to spare, defeating Chippa United 3-0 at the Buffalo City Stadium.

The in-form Arthur Sales bagged a brace while Iqraam Rayners netted the other one to propel the Tshwane giants to an away victory.

Davids says Masandawana are on their own different level compared to other clubs in the South African league.

He also lauded Orlando Pirates for challenging the Pretoria-based club somewhat at some point this season. However, the former Maritzburg United coach believes it will take some time to dethrone Sundowns.

DAVIDS FEELS IT WILL TAKE A SOME TIME TO DETHRONE SUNDOWNS

“Sundowns are on a different level to everybody else, the type of players they are signing and now with the Club World Cup and the cash injection they will get with it, it just takes them to a complete different dimension,” Davids said on Mike Morton Talks Football YouTube Channel as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“Pirates have done extremely well under (Jose) Riveiro to push Sundowns to a certain limit this season, especially winning seven matches in a row but Sundowns are just on a different level. I don't see anyone domestically taking the league from them.

“If a coach like Riveiro (had) stayed for the next three years, step by step Pirates, without thinking about Sundowns, would just improve the team and would eventually catch up because there's only a certain amount that money can buy, one transition moment Sundowns changes a coach, (then) Pirates comes in.”
