Sundowns in advanced talks to sign Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate

Mamelodi Sundowns are closing in on TS Galaxy star Puso Dithejane, a Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate, just days after pulling off a sensational transfer for Monnapule Saleng.

The reigning champions are moving aggressively to strengthen their squad for the second half of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

The Tshwane giants have already signaled their intent to dominate the January transfer window after a disappointing first half of the campaign that saw them miss out on both the MTN8 and Carling Knockout titles.

In a move that stunned South African football, Sundowns announced the signing of Orlando Pirates winger Saleng, who netted 25 goals and 17 assists in 70 appearances for the Buccaneers before a loan spell in July 2025.

Now, Sundowns are set to win the race for 21-year-old Dithejane, who has been one of the standout performers in the PSL this season. The former Chiefs youth product has featured in 15 matches, scoring four goals and providing six assists for Galaxy.

According to FARPost the deal is at an advanced stage and should be sealed soon.

“Puso is close to joining Mamelodi Sundowns. The club held talks with the player’s camp, and I can tell you that Dithejane is keen on the move. It’s only a few things that are left to be ironed out.”

If completed, the deal would see Sundowns beat rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs to his signature, adding another major weapon as they chase the league title, Nedbank Cup, and CAF Champions League glory.
