The 2024/25 PSL Awards ceremony on Tuesday evening was largely dominated by Mamelodi Sundowns superstar Lucas Ribeiro Costa, who swept an incredible four accolades.
Ribeiro Costa not only clinched the prestigious PSL Footballer of the Season but also secured the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, Betway Premiership Goal of the Season, and the Betway Premiership Top Goal Scorerawards.
Orlando Pirates’ young sensation, Relebohile Mofokeng, also had a night to remember, taking home both the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season and the MTN8 Last Man Standing awards, signaling a bright future.
In the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Muzomuhle Khanyi of Hungry Lions was a standout, earning both the Players’ Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorerawards.
Teboho Lekhatla (Casric Stars) was named Young Player of the Season, with Dumsani Msibi (Durban City) recognized as Goalkeeper of the Season.
On the coaching front, Mamelodi Sundowns' Miguel Cardoso was crowned Betway Premiership Coach of the Season.
Orlando Pirates also saw a trio of their players recognized in key defensive and midfield roles: Sipho Chaine(Goalkeeper), Nkosinathi Sibisi (Defender), and Makhehleni Makhaula (Midfielder) all secured Betway Premiership awards.
Cup competitions also had their stars, with Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi taking the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament. Mbekezeli Mbokazi (Orlando Pirates) was named Most Promising Player of the Tournament, and Elvis Chipezeze of Magesi FC shone as the Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament.
In the DStv Diski Challenge, Tylon Smith (Stellenbosch FC) was Player of the Season, and Siphamandla Msezane (Orlando Pirates) the Top Goal Scorer.
Finally, match officials Kgara Mokoena and Masixole Bambiso were honored as Assistant Referee and Referee of the Season, respectively.
