Sundowns vs CBE: Preview, venue & where to watch

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Central Bank of Ethiopia will be looking to bounce back when they face off in the second group match of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The upcoming clash will be the first between the two. 

HOW SUNDOWNS HAVE FARED AGAINST EAST AFRICAN TEAMS

Sundowns will face their fourth East African opponent in the final, having previously locked horns with Kenya's Vihiga Queens in 2021 and Tanzania's Simba Queens and JKT Queens in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

In their inaugural appearance in 2021, Sundowns faced Kenyan side Vihiga Queens in their opening group stage match, securing a 1-0 victory. 

They continued their dominance in 2022, defeating Tanzania's Simba Queens 1-0 in the semi-finals. The following year, they overcame JKT Queens 2-0 in the group stage.

With this match, Sundowns will have faced East African opponents in all four of their appearances at the finals.

COSAFA VS CECAFA

This will be the fifth encounter between teams from the COSAFA and CECAFA regions at the CAF Women's Champions League finals. Teams from the COSAFA region have won three of the previous four clashes.

SUNDOWNS FORM

Banyana Ba Style suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of FC Masar of Egypt.

This loss ended 9-game undefeated run in the group games at the finals. Before then they have won eight and drew one. This also ended of their run of winning 6 successive group games.

This was their second loss at the finals of this competition having suffered defeat in the 2022 final.

CBE FORM

Meanwhile, CBE lost their opening game 3-0 to the Nigerian side Edo Queens.

The match will take place on Wednesday, 12 November at Stade Larbi Zaouli. It will be live on SABC Sports.
