The Balancing Act: Ouaddou on Managing Pirates’ Bafana Players Before the MTN8 Final

Published on by

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is orchestrating a delicate balancing act. Despite being in hospital following a road accident, he's fully focused on the team's upcoming schedule.

The Buccaneers are fresh off a dominant 3-0 victory against Chippa United, but the real test lies ahead: the MTN8 final against rivals Stellenbosch FC.

The challenge is amplified by the fact that six of Pirates' players have been called up for Bafana Bafana's World Cup qualifiers. This includes rising stars like Oswin Appollis, Kamogelo Sebelebele, and Mbekezeli Mbokazi.

Ouaddou recognizes that international duty is a huge honor and a crucial part of a player's career. However, he also knows the importance of the MTN8 trophy. To that end, he has devised a strategic plan to manage the players' commitments.

He and his technical team are working to ensure the returning players are not fatigued and are mentally and physically prepared for the high-pressure final.

This proactive approach highlights Ouaddou's commitment to both his players' careers and the club's trophy aspirations, demonstrating his leadership even while off the field.

‘IT’S LIFE OF BIG CLUBS’

“We are Orlando Pirates a very big club of course with some international players, I am happy for them,” Ouaddou told the media.

“It’s life of the big clubs and we have to deal with that; we have to manage that we don’t have anything to do with that, just encourage our players.

“I hope they will give the best for their country, for the national team, it’s very important. I was an international player I know how important it is to play for your country. We will make sure that we don’t have any choice that’s it. “
