Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners has reacted to winning November/December Betway Premiership Player of the Month award.

It has been raining goals on Rayners’ side since he joined Masandawana from Stellies at the start of the season.

The 29-year-old forward has rattled 13 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions.

In a closely contested race, Rayners scooped the award, edging out strong contenders Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng and AmaZulu FC’s Hendrick Ekstein.

’IT’S NOT ABOUT ME ALONE’

Expressing himself, Rayners said: “It’s always good to win the awards individually, but it’s not about me alone. It’s about the team, too.”

“Team effort, the team helping me win at least something, so yeah, for me, I’m happy.

“For me, it’s always been a good month. We traveled a lot, we played a lot of games, and I was always keeping focus. I was happy, I was in a good space, and the team was happy, so it was a good feeling for us.

“But it’s just traveling that makes you tired, but we pushed through it.”
