Kaizer Chiefs legend Siphiwe Tshabalala feels Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng is now ready to play for Bafana Bafana and for a move abroad.
Mofokeng has been a revelation since he was unleashed by Pirates coach Jose Riveiro and has become a key player for the side as he rarely misses from the starting XI.
He has so far weighed in with four goals and five assists in 15 matches across all competitions this season but he has struggled for minutes in the national team with coach Hugo Broos preferring to integrate him slowly rather than throwing him into the deep end.
While Tshabalala agrees that is the right approach for all young players by Broos, he feels ‘Rele’ is ready to become a regular now that he plays consistently at Pirates.
Tshabalala full of praise for Mofokeng
“I am impressed by Rele Mofokeng. I think he is ready to play for the national team and to play abroad. His form, he is confident and also consistent which is very key,” Tshabalala told Soccer Laduma.
“The boy has been great thus far, helping Pirates in terms of goals and assists. He has been contributing.”
Mofokeng was a late substitute for Bafana Bafana in their 3-0 win over South Sudan on Tuesday while he was rumoured to have attracted interest from a host of European clubs in the off-season.
However, a deal has not materialised and it is Pirates reaping from his talents although Broos has advised him against making the ‘mistake’ of going abroad too early.
