Orlando Pirates Transfer News: ‘Why now is it different story?’ Snubbed star asks

South Africa international Tshegofatso Mabasa recently sealed a move from Orlando Pirates to Moroccan side MAS Fes.

The experienced 29-year-old forward had been linked to several teams like Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu as well as Saudi Pro League outfits, before joining the Botola Pro League outfit.

Mabasa endured a tough final year with the Sea Robbers before eventually joining Stellenbosch on loan for the last six months. He was let go by the Soweto giants following the expiry of his contract with the club.

The Bafana Bafana striker has now revealed his situation in the final stages of his contract, before parting ways with the team he joined in 2019 from Bloemfontein Celtic.

I felt I was delivering

“It was a very confusing period for me; I won’t lie… For me, I felt I was still delivering, regardless of whatever is happening off the ball; I was delivering,” Mabasa responded to iDiski Times about losing his place in the team.

“Even in the actions where it’s off the ball, it’s not like I wasn’t pressing, it was the same I could say for maybe two seasons back, when coach Jose was there, we also had to press at the time and I was pressing.

“So why now is it a different story? Hence why I saw it was a very confusing period for me, but I had to remain strong, confident in my abilities and continue to show up whether it’s in training or in friendlies, which I believe I did, I did my part.

“It’s just unfortunate my opportunity never came again in the season,” he concluded.
