Veteran Striker Diyo Sibisi, 43, Joins New Club

At 43, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Free State Stars striker Diyo Sibisi has signed with Dlangezwa Hellenic, a club in the ABC Motsepe League.

The move is a testament to his enduring career and his continuous passion for the game, proving that a player’s journey doesn’t end with the top flight.

Sibisi’s professional career started in 2006, and he quickly made a name for himself at Free State Stars.

His impressive goal-scoring record there led to a significant transfer to Sundowns in 2009. Although his time with the Brazilians was short-lived, his subsequent career saw him move through several prominent clubs.

After six months at Sundowns, he was snapped up by Ajax Cape Town, and then he made a permanent switch to Maritzburg United after a successful loan spell.

The journeyman striker has had a diverse career, with a roster of clubs that includes University of Pretoria, Mpumalanga Black Aces, and an eye-catching stint abroad with Vietnamese club Tay Ninh FC in 2014.

Back in South Africa, he also played for Uthongathi FC, Ladysmith United, Umvoti FC, and FC Drankensburg.

The signing, announced on social media by Dlangezwa Hellenic, brings a seasoned veteran to the lower leagues.
