Vilakazi slammed by Ki for showboating in Kaizer Chiefs loss – ‘Ronaldo can’t do that! It is nonsense’

The Burkina Faso and Wananchi versatile attacker believes the 19-year-old midfielder could have done better in Amakhosi’s embarrassing loss

Yanga SC attacker Stephane Aziz Ki was not impressed by Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi for showboating in his team's 4-0 loss.

The Tanzanian champions were playing the Glamour Boys in the inaugural Toyota Cup fixture staged at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday, July 28. With Amakhosi trailing 2-0, the attacker opted to showboat instead of helping his team get a possible goal.

After the game, Yanga coach Miguel Gamondi advised his opposite number Nabi Nasreddine to go for quality players to help him strengthen the team since youngsters can't deliver.

‘You will never see Ronaldo doing that'

Aziz Ki was dismayed to see the midfielder dancing with the ball, stating he did not realize he was in an important game that needed seriousness.

“I respect my job; football is my job. I love football. I like to learn,” the 28-year-old Burkina Faso international told Far Post.

“The football I see at a high level, you will never see Ronaldo or the top players do that. This is a waste of time. When you’re losing, and you come and do this, it’s nonsense.

“I was feeling sad when I saw even the young players doing this. It’s not something nice,” Ki continued.

“For me, football is always in front, control, pass, not to jump with the ball, you lose time, and you kill time because, in football, every single second is important. So when you take the ball and stop the ball and do that, you give five seconds to the opponent and everyone will come back. So you will not get the option. You didn’t create [anything].

“After the game when you finish doing these dances with the ball, if I ask you who won the game, what will you tell me? You danced with the ball? I can’t appreciate this kind of football.”

New Amakhosi coach Nabi said he is working with an inexperienced side but exuded confidence the team will catch up and deliver in the Premier Soccer League.

Chiefs start their league game on August 14 against Marumo Gallants.
