The Bafana Bafana forward has now been directly involved in two goals for his club in the new campaign.

South Africa international Lyle Foster sent a strong message to Hugo Broos with a goal as his team Burnley played to a 1-1 draw with 10-man Blackburn Rovers in Saturday's Championship game staged at the Turf Moor.

This weekend's game was the fifth match the 23-year-old for his team this season across all competitions, after their relegation from the Premier League.

Prior to the game against the Riversiders, the Clarets had won their initial two Championship games against Luton and Cardiff respectively, with their only loss, so far, coming against Sunderland.

Foster shows class

It took the Bafana Bafana attacker just 10 minutes to get his name on the score sheet after a good cross from the left by Jaidon Anthony.

However, the lead lasted just 13 minutes; the visitors responded through Andreas Weimann following some good work from Makhtar Gueye.

Burnley were handed a numerical advantage after the sending off of Gueye in the 57th minute, but they did not capitalise on it and the game eventually ended 1-1.

The Clarets have now collected seven points from the four games they have collected in the English second tier, as they work on their promotion at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Foster form, Bafana boost?

The Clarets attacker has now managed an assist and a goal in the four league games played in the new campaign.

He is part of the South Africa squad that will play Uganda and later South Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for the next couple of days.

It will be interesting to see who will be handed a starting berth by Broos who has Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners at his disposal.
