When is Rushwin Dortley returning? Chiefs share latest update

Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has been out of action for about four months following an injury to his knee.

The 23-year-old underwent surgery to help him recover, and despite being with other players in the Netherlands for pre-season, the left-footed Bafana Bafana international has not featured in any of the preparatory games that have been played so far.

Amakhosi have now updated the supporters and the public at large about the condition of the former Cape Town Spurs player.

Latest on Dortley as communicated by Chiefs

“Rushwin Dortley is running around a pitch, which is nearly empty – well, except for physiotherapist Phumzile Ngobese, who is monitoring the defender's run closely. The Amakhosi squad is training at another field of the Dutch amateur side WWNA in Wenum-Wiesell, which is basically next to Kaizer Chiefs' hotel in Apeldoorn,” Amakhosi confirmed through their media team.

“I was tackled from the side; no yellow card was given to the opponent,” Dortley recalled how he was injured.

“This is my first serious injury that needed an operation;  It has been a tough few months. One has to be strong mentally, as you want to play, but you can't. It's not easy, but I do know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“I have a lot of support from my family. My girlfriend, my father, my mother, my brother… They are all playing a huge role in my road to full recovery. That's how the team is. If one is injured, we can all feel the loss of a player. We are one!,” Dortley concluded.
