Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso was left unhappy with the timing of the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup trophy tour.
The trophy was presented at the Masandawana base in Chloorkop on Friday, February 7, a day before the anticipated Premier Soccer League clash between the defending champions and their challengers Orlando Pirates.
Sundowns went on to register a vital 4-1 win that opened the gap between them and the Buccaneers. The Brazilians are currently on 42 points after the 15 games played, while the Soweto giants are on 33 after 14 outings. However, Cardoso had to share his thoughts regarding the Friday event.
‘I was not happy' – Cardoso opens up

“Believe me, [on Friday] I was so pissed off, so pissed off! Because we had the day to think about the World Cup when we should be thinking about Pirates,” he told the media.
“I was not happy, believe me because I know what we have ahead. And for us ahead is always the next match. I don’t think about the Champions League at all. I don’t think about the World Cup…
“I just had to cope with activities that allow us to prepare for these moments, but our daily lives next day, next day, next day, next day! So, today we analyse, we see the contacts we take the decisions to win tomorrow, and tomorrow is the training session to grow,” Cardoso concluded.
Mamelodi Sundowns will be aiming at getting another win on Tuesday, February 11 night when they play TS Galaxy in the PSL outing.
