Following Kaizer Chiefs‘ Betway Premiership goalless draw against Chippa United over the weekend, head coach Nasreddine Nabi clarified why defender Given Msimango was not featured in the match.
Amakhosi were hoping to end their winless streak in the league but failed their attempts were not enough to win the match.
With key defender Given Msimango unavailable for the Chippa United match, Kaizer Chiefs started Zitha Kwinika in his stead.
This was a rare outing for Kwinika, marking just his second appearance this season amid reports suggesting a potential departure from the club.
Msimango's absence was significant, as the 27-year-old had featured in all of the team's last five league fixtures, covering for the injured Rushwin Dortley.
Nabi later explained on SuperSport TV that Msimango's absence was due to an injury he had been managing in recent fixtures.

NABI ON THE UNAVAILABILITY OF MSIMANGO AGAINST CHIPPA
“So, with Given, this week, we are trying to manage him to get more rest. He could have played in this game, but he is not okay.
“For that reason, we had to make the change in his position.
“I'd like to congratulate and thank the players like Zitha, (Edmilson) Dove and Blom in defence after we lost many defenders to injuries.
“I think in the next week, we will have some players back. We've been unlucky with the injuries, but I think we have a good group.”
