Why Chiefs loanee Sabelo Radebe is yet to make debut at Richards Bay FC

Richards Bay FC head coach Brandon Truter has explained why Kaizer Chiefs loanee Sabelo Radebe has yet to feature for the side.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Natal Rich Boyz on the deadline day, penning a season-long loan deal.

He was sent down to KZN with an intention to get him game time as he has been struggling to establish himself at Chiefs.

Speaking in the club’s media open day on Thursday, Truter explained that the team's busy schedule has limited their ability to assess Radebe's readiness.

However, he confirmed that the player is now fit and prepared to make his debut for Richards Bay.

TRUTER ON WHEN SABELO RADEBE WILL FEATURE FOR RICHARDS BAY

“I think Sabelo is ready to come in now,” said Truter.

“His fitness level is good. He’s having game minutes now in our 11 v 11 because our programme for the last three weeks was playing recover, playing recover.

“There wasn’t anytime to fit in training games or friendly games if you want to put it that way.

“So, we couldn’t really see him in a really competitive environment. I think that’s the only thing that’s missing from him as well.

“He’s been performing well and he’s very close to being selected as well. But at the same time, Mthethwa and Moses who play in that position have been our key players in that midfield and they are doing well.

“So, it’s about the opportunity coming along and giving it to him. He must just be patient for the opportunity, when it comes he must be ready.”
