Kaizer Chiefs‘ winless run was extended to three games on Wednesday night after a defeat against Siwelele in Bloemfontein.

The Lehlohonolo Seema-led team scored in ther first half courtesy of former Glamour Boys’ man Tebogo Potsane and Siphesihle Jeza who struck inside the initial 25 minutes.

Despite a spirited performance from the visitors after the break, things didn’t work out for the Soweto giants, who missed some good opportunities to at least salvage a draw. They now remain on 47 points from 26 games, five more than fourth-placed AmaZulu.

Siwelele are three points outside the top eight, and with four games to go, they can fancy their chances of qualifying for MTN8.

Concern for Chiefs ahead of Downs assignment?

In the game against Siwelele, co-coach Cedrick Kaze shared a worrying concern about Siphesihle Ndlovu ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns game in the next couple of days, before explaining why Bradley Cross was not played.

“Actually, we made two changes from Cross and Ndlovu. Ndlovu didn’t train in the last two days; he felt discomfort and is being assessed by the medical team. We are expecting the results,” he explained.

“Bradley Cross has had a lot of games in the last few days, so we felt that it was the right moment to do a rotation. Those were the only changes.

“After the game, as a coach, you ask yourself if maybe you should have made more changes to get fresh minds and fresh legs, too. But you know that’s how football is. We are going to take this as a lesson and learn from it going forward,” Kaze concluded.
