Wydad Casablanca coach Rulani Mokwena has given an update on Bongani Zungu who has been training with the club recently.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder started training with the Moroccan giants a week ago as he hopes to put pen to paper having been unattached for more than three months now.
Mokwena was speaking after his side came out victorious with a 3-2 scoreline over SC Chabab Mohammedia in the Botola Pro League on Saturday evening.
He stated that the 32-year-old is not yet ready to get back to field after having not played a couple of months.
However, he confirmed that Zungu will soon be offered a contract, emphasizing the midfielder's importance to the team due to his communication skills in various languages, including English, Portuguese, and French.
RULANI MOKWENA ON BONGANI ZUNGU
“Zungu is not ready yet. He needs a whole pre-season, so we are trying to catch up a little bit and make sure that he’s physically ready,” said Mokwena according to African Football Journalist Micky Jnr.
“He is training with us and he’s doing well. Zungu is a very good player and a great human being. It’s a very difficult league here, so he needs to adjust quickly and be ready for it.
“He helps us because he speaks English, French, Portuguese and communicates well with the players.
“We will give him an offer when he’s ready. Inshallah.”
Mokwena has already signed former Sundowns players in Abdelmoneim Boutouil and Cassius Mailula who is on loan from his MLS club Toronto FC.
