Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Issacs believes the technical team should place their faith in Bruce Bvuma ahead of the blockbuster clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Isaacs cautions against scapegoating Bvuma for the four goals conceded against SuperSport United in their last outing.
He pointed out that Chiefs' overall team performance was below par in that defeat. To date, Bvuma has conceded 11 goals in his 10 league appearances this season.
Chiefs’ goalkeeping department has been an area of concern throughout the campaign, with Brandon Petersen and Fiacre Ntwari also failing to establish themselves as consistent performers.
Petersen has conceded five in three league games, and Ntwari, despite his international experience, has let in 11 across seven appearances in all competitions.
ISSACS BACKS BVUMA AHEAD OF SUNDOWNS CLASH
“Some of the goals they conceded can't be blamed on the goalkeeper; he is helpless in certain situations,” Isaacs told KickOff.

“Yes, a goalkeeper is crucial to the team, and you cannot fault him. He brings calmness and confidence to the defence.
“A good goalkeeper encourages his teammates, keeps everything composed at the back, and communicates effectively. When there's a cross, he comes out and punches the ball, guiding his defenders by telling them, ‘Man on, man coming from the blindside, step up, drop back a little,' and so on.
“I'm not sure what the competition among goalkeepers at Chiefs is like, but they started with Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy, then moved to Brandon, who didn't hold the position for long, and now they have Bvuma. Yet, nothing seems to be changing.
“It's hard to determine who their best goalkeeper is — one game the entire team performs well, and the next, their performance dips. Ultimately, when the team excels, the goalkeeper will also do well.
“Therefore, let's continue with Bruce Bvuma and see how it goes. He may have conceded four goals against SuperSport, but the whole team underperformed. They were too open against SuperSport, who capitalized on a very good day.”
