Aberdeen head coach Stephen Robinson has shared his thoughts on the performance of Nigerian midfielder Afeez Aremu following their win over Kilmarnock on Saturday, Afrik-Foot reports.
The four-time Scottish champions took a massive step toward survival with a hard-fought 1-0 win in the Scottish Premiership clash at Pittodrie Stadium, with Aremu scoring the decisive goal of the match.
The 26-year-old joined Aberdeen on a two-and-a-half-year deal during the January transfer window from German second-division side FC Kaiserslautern, but has had to wait for opportunities to perform, drifting in and out of the team and making only a few appearances across all competitions.
However, he was handed a starting role on Saturday and wasted no time making an impact. After only 51 seconds into the game, the midfielder had an attempt that took a deflection on its way into the net, marking his first goal for the club.

Despite late pressure from Kilmarnock, that early strike proved decisive as Aberdeen held on to secure a crucial win and move closer to safety.
Robinson hails Aremu’s impact for Aberdeen
Aberdeen recorded only their ninth league victory of the season, with Aremu’s early strike proving to be the only difference in their ongoing battle to avoid relegation.

Reflecting on the result, Stephen Robinson, who only took charge of the club in March as they fight to stay up, was very impressed with their overall display and also singled out Aremu as one of the standout performers before he was substituted.
“We got off to a great start with the goal. It was a superb touch from Stuart. Jack did well to hold it up from the throw, and it was a really, really composed finish. Until he tired, I thought Afeez was very good today”, he said post-match, via Aberdeen official website.
Aremu will be pleased to have opened his goal account for the club and will now be looking to build on that performance, especially with Aberdeen still not entirely safe from relegation.

The Dons have four matches remaining this season to secure their top-flight status, starting with a trip to face Livingston on Friday in another crucial clash.
