The 2024 CAF Awards, held at the prestigious Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday, December 16, celebrated African football's finest talents, recognising exceptional performances at both club and international levels.

The evening highlighted individual brilliance and team excellence, honouring the players, coaches, and moments that defined the year in African football.

Below is a comprehensive list of all the award winners and the nominees they triumphed over.

CAF Awards: Men's Player of the Year

Ademola Lookman clinched the prestigious CAF African Player of the Year award, widely regarded as the frontrunner to succeed his compatriot, Victor Osimhen.

His stellar performances in 2024, including winning the UEFA Europa League with Atalanta, contributing to the club's remarkable start to the Serie A season, and helping Nigeria reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), were key to his triumph.

The Atalanta forward concluded the 2023/24 campaign with 33 goal contributions, comprising goals and assists, for club and country.

CAF Awards: Women's Player of the Year

Barbra Banda’s 2024 has been filled with remarkable achievements. During the Paris Olympic Games, the 24-year-old made history by becoming the first player to score a third hat-trick at the Olympics, following her stellar performances in Japan three years prior.

In her debut season in the National Women's Soccer League, Banda quickly made an impact, scoring the decisive goal in the playoffs final, one of 17 goals she netted in 25 games. Her outstanding performances earned her the title of the NWSL's Most Valuable Player for 2024.

CAF Awards: Women's Young Player of the Year

Moroccan football sensation Doha El Madani clinched the prestigious Women's Young Player of the Year award at the 2024 CAF Awards. Her nomination stemmed from an outstanding season with AS FAR, where she showcased remarkable talent and consistency.

El Madani's brilliance was on full display at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, where she emerged as the tournament's top scorer, playing a pivotal role in guiding AS FAR to a commendable second-place finish.

In addition to her club exploits, El Madani has also made significant contributions to Morocco’s U-17 and U-20 women’s national teams, solidifying her reputation as one of Africa’s brightest young football talents.

CAF Awards: Men's Young Player of the Year

Senegal's Lamine Camara's already honoured last year, successfully defended his CAF accolade, becoming the first player since Achraf Hakimi in 2018 and 2019 to achieve back-to-back victories.

Following his move to Monaco this summer after a stellar season at Metz, he has continued to impress at the highest level. He was a member of the Terranga Lions AFCON 2024 squad and scored a wonder goal against The Gambia.

CAF Awards: Women's National Team of the Year

The Super Falcons of Nigeria proudly represented Africa at the Paris Olympic Games, showcasing the rising competitiveness of African women’s football on the global stage.

Despite facing formidable opposition, the team demonstrated resilience and proved they could hold their own against some of the world's leading football nations.

CAF Awards: Men's National Team of the Year

The Elephants of Ivory Coast emerged victorious in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, capping off a remarkable year for the nation.

Despite a challenging start that saw them advance from the group stage as the last of the best third-placed teams, they demonstrated resilience and determination to claim the prestigious title.

Al Ahly showcased their dominance once again, clinching the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League title for the fourth time in five years.

The Egyptian giants further underscored their supremacy by securing the Egyptian Premier League and the Egyptian Super Cup, solidifying their status as one of Africa’s most formidable football clubs.

CAF Awards: Women's Club of the Year

DR Congo's TP Mazembe, winners of both the CAF Women's Champions League and their domestic competition, demonstrated remarkable growth throughout the continental finals.

Their strength and organisation on the field were evident as they progressed, ultimately securing the prestigious title with an impressive display of team cohesion and skill.

CAF Awards: Men's Interclub Player of the Year

Mamelodi Sundowns' goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, clinched the award, marking one of three nominations for the South African international, who is also vying for Men's Player of the Year and Men's Goalkeeper of the Year.

Williams played a pivotal role in Sundowns' record-extending seventh consecutive domestic league title, contributing to a remarkable defensive performance that saw the team concede a joint-record low of just 11 goals in 30 matches.

CAF Awards: Women's Interclub Player of the Year

Sanaâ Mssoudy, 24, of Morocco and AS FAR, was named Best Player at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League after a standout individual performance that saw her narrowly miss out on securing the title for her side.

A key figure for both club and country, Mssoudy continues to be an influential presence on the field.

CAF Awards: Women's Goalkeeper of the Year

Nigeria and Paris FC’s Chiamaka Nnadozie had an outstanding season, earning the Goalkeeper of the Season award after her impressive performances helped her club secure a third-place finish in the French league.

Nnadozie also represented Nigeria at the Paris Olympic Games, further cementing her reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in African football.

CAF Awards: Men's Goalkeeper of the Year

Ronwen Williams claimed his second award of the night following a series of exceptional performances at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023.

His crucial saves for Bafana Bafana played a pivotal role in securing the bronze medal, and his impressive display earned him a nomination for FIFA’s Best Goalkeeper in 2024. At 32, Williams continues to be a key figure in South African football.

CAF Awards: Women's Coach of the Year

Moroccan coach Lamine Boumehdi guided TP Mazembe to victory in the CAF Women’s Champions League, securing the title with a win over AS FAR in the final. In addition to this remarkable achievement, she also led the team to the domestic championship in 2024 and played a key role in their success at the UNIFFAC qualifier tournament for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

CAF Awards: Men's Coach of the Year

Ivory Coast manager Emerse Fae was named Coach of the Year after leading the Elephants to victory in the AFCON on home soil. Fae began the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 tournament as an assistant to Jean-Louis Gasset.

However, following Gasset's resignation after the group stages, Fae took charge and guided the team to an impressive triumph. His leadership marked a remarkable turnaround for the side.

CAF Awards: Goal of the Year

Cristovao Mabululu of Angola won the Goal of the Year award for his stunning strike against Namibia in the 2024 AFCON. The forward scored a brace in the match, which saw Palancas Negras defeat Namibia 3-0 to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

However, it was his second goal that left a lasting impression. After receiving a pass from his teammate, Mabululu, with a defender and goalkeeper charging toward him, expertly curled the ball into the bottom corner, delivering a sensational finish that had fans and pundits alike in awe.
