Aberdeen’s Interim head coach, Peter Leven, has revealed when Super Eagles midfielder Afeez Aremu can make his first appearance for the club, Afrik Foot reports.

The 26-year-old joined the four-time Scottish Champions on the 29th of January, putting pen to paper to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal.

However, since the transfer from 2. Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern, Aremu hasn’t played for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen coach reveals why Aremu has yet to play

The former Remo Stars midfielder revealed he joined Aberdeen largely because of what ex-Manchester United coach, Sir Alex Ferguson, did in his time in charge of the club.

Aberdeen coach Leven, who took over on an interim basis last month after Jimmy Thelin was sacked, revealed Aremu was in line to make his debut last night against Dundee United last night, but the game was postponed due to harsh weather conditions.

“They [Afeez Aremu and Dennis Geiger] have trained really well. Afeez is getting stronger every day and has looked sharper over the last couple of days, and has looked really bright,” the 42-year-old said in quotes revealed by Herald Scotland.

“Dennis was always a little bit ahead of him, but the extra training and the game on Saturday really helped. We’re looking forward to seeing what they can bring to the team.

“We had a bounce game on Saturday, just between ourselves for 60 minutes. The conditions weren’t great, but we managed to play one on Saturday.

“Yes, we need to keep looking up and try to catch the teams above us.

“We take it game by game. We go into every game wanting to win, it’s the same for us moving forward,” the former MK Dons man concluded.
