There could still be several twists in the future of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro this summer, despite the complex agreement already involving Inter Milan and Pisa Sporting Club, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 21-year-old Nigerian midfielder has spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Pisa, where he quietly impressed during a difficult Serie A campaign that ended in relegation.
Pisa have now decided to activate their €7 million option to sign Akinsanmiro permanently from Inter. However, Inter are expected to immediately trigger an €8 million buy-back clause inserted into the agreement, a move which would hand the Nerazzurri full control over the midfielder once again.
That development has created uncertainty around the player’s next destination ahead of the summer transfer window.

Akinsanmiro has made 22 appearances for Pisa this season and registered one assist, but the numbers only tell part of the story. In a struggling side that found survival difficult, the Nigerian still managed to show composure, tactical intelligence and maturity beyond his age.
One of his standout moments came in Pisa’s entertaining 2-2 draw against AC Milan, where he produced a brilliant long-range pass from the centre circle to set up M’Bala Nzola. He also impressed in matches against ACF Fiorentina and Milan, earning Man of the Match recognition for commanding midfield displays.
Statistically, the former Remo Stars youngster completed nearly 87 percent of his passes this season while also contributing strongly in defensive duels, tackles and interceptions.
Inter reportedly view him as part of their long-term future and are considering tying him down to a contract running until 2030. But there is also growing belief in Italy that another Serie A loan move may be arranged if the club decide he is not yet ready for regular first-team football at San Siro.

Agent speaks as clubs monitor Akinsanmiro
Akinsanmiro remains highly regarded in Italy and beyond. Before his move to Inter, clubs including Real Madrid and SL Benfica were reportedly monitoring his progress. After an encouraging Serie A campaign, interest in the midfielder is growing again.
The youngster’s agent, Crescenzo Cecere, has admitted several clubs are already making enquiries ahead of the summer market.
Speaking about the midfielder’s development at Pisa, Cecere said: “He made an excellent step with Pisa. The club’s season was negative, but from a personal standpoint, the boy can be satisfied.”
Cecere also suggested that Inter will face competition if they decide to send the Nigerian out on loan again instead of integrating him into their first-team plans next season.
“There are many interested teams, and we’ll evaluate them in due time. There’s no shortage of requests,” the agent added.

Those remarks will likely alert several clubs across Italy and beyond, especially with Akinsanmiro now regarded as one of the most promising Nigerian midfielders playing in Europe.
The next few weeks are expected to be crucial. Inter must decide whether to keep him at San Siro under Cristian Chivu’s evolving squad plans or send him elsewhere for more regular top-flight football.
Pisa may have activated their purchase option, but there is increasing belief that the Tuscan club could ultimately lose out on keeping the Nigerian midfielder, particularly after relegation to Serie B.
What seems certain is that Akinsanmiro will head into the summer transfer window with his reputation stronger than ever after a season that confirmed he is ready for Serie A football.
