Two reasons Al Diriyah are keen on Ndidi despite Besiktas rejection

Saudi Pro League side Al Diriyah are preparing an improved offer for Wilfred Ndidi after Besiktas rejected their initial €7 million bid for the Super Eagles captain, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Saudi club’s decision to return with a better proposal underlines how highly they value the Nigerian midfielder, despite Besiktas refusing to sanction his departure with their first offer.

Ndidi has become an important figure at Besiktas since joining the Turkish giants from Leicester City last summer, combining his defensive qualities with the experience and leadership that come with years at the highest level.

1. He can make an immediate impact

One of the biggest attractions is Ndidi’s ability to influence games without needing a prolonged adaptation period.

The 29-year-old recently returned from an injury layoff and immediately reminded Besiktas of his importance.

Introduced in the second half of their 1-0 Conference League qualifying victory over FC Hradec Králové, Ndidi played a key role in Semih Kılıçsoy’s late winner. His contribution was a timely reminder of what he brings to midfield.

Ndidi’s defensive awareness, physicality and ability to protect the back four make him a natural fit for a club looking to add more stability in the middle of the pitch.

For Al Diriyah, that reliability is valuable as they look to strengthen their squad with players capable of contributing from the outset.

Interestingly, Besiktas appear to be considering their own contingency plan. As per Fanatik, the Turkish club are reportedly in talks over a potential move for Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessié on a free transfer.

That does not necessarily mean Ndidi is certain to leave, but the timing is notable.

With Al Diriyah preparing an improved offer, Besiktas may soon have a decision to make over whether to retain a player who has established himself as an important part of the team or cash in if the Saudi club increase their proposal.
