Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi scored his second Premier League goal of the season in his side’s 3-0 win over Spurs, Afrik Foot reports.
Igor Tudor’s Tottenham Hotspur came into the game on the back of a souring UEFA Champions League exit to Atletico Madrid. Although they secured a 3-2 home win, it wasn’t enough to overturn the three-goal deficit they suffered in the first leg.
Forest, on the other hand, were in high spirits after completing a comeback against FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League.
Awoniyi had played just 18 minutes under Vitor Pereira since his last goal against Brentford back in January, but he made his minutes count at the London Stadium today.

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur: How the game unfolded
The game had a somewhat boring start, but the home side came closest to breaking a deadlock after Igor Jesus headed the ball onto his own crossbar in the 14th minute.
Spurs continued to boss possession, but the killer instinct in the final third was lacking, something that has become a recurring theme for the Lilywhites this term.
For all of their defensive stability, their hard work was undone before the first half came to an end.
Neco Williams’ corner kick was delivered to the back post, where Igor Jesus had a free header, across the goal in a textbook manner to beat Gugliemo Vicario, who was a doubt for the game.

Mathijs Tel hit the woodwork as Spurs looked to quickly level the score. The former Bayern winger whipped his attempt towards the top right corner, where Sels’ finger tipped the ball onto the bar.
Tel continued to get the better of Aina on Spurs’ left side, but Neco Williams, on the other flank for Forest, had enough space to exploit.
In the 62nd minute, Williams was freed down the right to roam into Tottenham’s box, before feeding the ball to Callum Hudson-Odoi. The former Chelsea winger cut the ball back to Morgan Gibbs-White, who tapped home to make it two.

Taiwo Awoniyi joined the party
With the International break on the horizon, coach Pereira opted to bring on some fresh legs to help Forest put the game to bed.
Awoniyi and Ryan Yates came on for Igor Jesus and Hudson-Odoi, respectively, in the 70th minute.
17 minutes later, Neco Williams whipped in a brilliant cross, much of which still needed some work from Awoniyi to get to, but the Nigerian did ever so well, beating Danso with his strenght before tapping the ball past Vicario.
While his celebrations were somewhat muted, he took off his shirt to show off a message underneath, tagged ‘God is the greatest’.

Igor Tudor cut a frustrated figure on the touchline as his Tottenham side continued their 13-game winless streak in the English Premier League.
Nottingham Forest are now 16th on the English Premier League table, three points above the relegation spots, while Spurs have some work to do if they’re to remain in the top flight beyond this campaign.
