Barcelona have reportedly taken an early step in the race to sign Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, with claims of an ‘unofficial’ offer being made to Galatasaray for the in-form forward, Afrik-Foot reports.
According to Turkish football insider Serhan Türk, the Spanish giants have already made contact and indicated their willingness to pay a huge fee.
“Barcelona has a great interest in Victor Osimhen,” Serhan Türk said as per Habersarikirmizi. “They have informally made an offer of over 100 million euros. Galatasaray’s expectation for Osimhen is 150 million euros.”

Osimhen only joined Galatasaray permanently last summer in a deal worth €74 million, but his explosive form has quickly turned heads across Europe. The 27-year-old Super Eagles striker has delivered 27 goal contributions this season, 20 goals and 7 assists, making him one of the most dangerous forwards in world football right now.
Clubs like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal are all believed to be preparing bids ahead of the summer transfer window.
Yet, Barcelona appear eager to move first, even if their approach is not yet formal. Reports suggest no official bid has been submitted, and top-tier journalists have not confirmed any concrete negotiations. Instead, the Catalan club is said to be closely monitoring Osimhen as part of their long-term transfer plans.

Why Barcelona want Osimhen
Barcelona’s interest is not difficult to understand. With Robert Lewandowski approaching 38, the club is actively searching for a long-term replacement to lead the attack.
Under manager Hansi Flick, Osimhen’s style fits Barcelona perfectly. He is quick, powerful, strong in the air, and presses defenders relentlessly; all qualities that suit Flick’s high-energy system. Compared to Lewandowski, Osimhen offers more movement, more physical presence, and greater impact across the pitch.
However, there are serious challenges.
Galatasaray are in a strong position after investing heavily in the striker. Club officials have made it clear they will not sell cheaply, with reports suggesting they want between €130 million and €150 million. There is also no release clause in his contract, meaning they can fully control negotiations.

Barcelona’s finances present another major obstacle. The club is still dealing with strict La Liga financial rules, which limit how much they can spend. Their internal budget for a new striker is believed to be around €100 million, far below Galatasaray’s asking price.
Then there is Osimhen’s salary. The Nigerian forward currently earns one of the highest wages in Turkish football, with a total package reportedly reaching over €20 million net per season. Matching that in Spain would push Barcelona’s wage bill to uncomfortable levels, especially under La Liga’s financial fair play system.
Because of these issues, Osimhen is seen as a ‘Plan B’ option for the Catalans. Reports in Spain suggest Barcelona’s top striker target remains Julián Álvarez of Atlético Madrid. A move for Osimhen may only happen if that deal proves impossible.
