Nigerian champions Rangers International will face Comoros side US Zilimadjou in the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round match on Friday, 23 August, in Uyo.

Rangers hold a slim advantage after winning the first leg 1-0, thanks to a 22nd-minute strike from Frank Uwumiro.

The match, though played in Uyo, was considered a home game for the Comoros side due to the unavailability of an approved stadium in their country, leading both legs to be played in Nigeria.

Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu expressed dissatisfaction with his team's inability to convert more of their chances in the first leg.

He particularly rued the absence of their top scorer, Godwin Obaje, who recently left the club to pursue a career abroad.

With the crucial second leg approaching, Ilechukwu emphasized the need for his forwards and the entire team to improve their finishing to avoid a potential upset.

“Yeah, we have been working on how to convert chances in training in the area of scoring chances, and I think there’s been a lot of improvement over the past few days,” Ilechukwu said.

“Hopefully, they are going to capitalize on what they have done in training sessions to be able to win the game comfortably.

“We don’t want to put them under pressure to score goals because that could make it more difficult for them, so we hope the team will do well,” he added.

If Rangers eliminate US Zilimadjou, they will face the winner of the tie between St. Louis of Seychelles and Segrada Esperança of Angola for a coveted spot in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
