Kwara Football Academy (KFA) has given an update on Chelsea FC’s interest surrounding Flying Eagles midfielder Abduljelil Kamaldeen, Afrik Foot reports.
Nigeria’s teenage midfield prospect Abduljelil Kamaldeen has continued to attract strong interest from top European clubs, with Chelsea and Belgian side KRC Genk now confirmed to have made offers for the Flying Eagles star.
Kamaldeen, who currently plays for Kwara Football Academy (KFA), has emerged as one of Nigeria’s most exciting young prospects following his recent performances at the youth level, including the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

Chelsea and Genk make moves for Kamaldeen
KFA’s Head of Football Operations, Ibrahim Jatto, confirmed that both Chelsea and Genk have taken concrete steps in their pursuit of the 16-year-old midfielder.
Jatto revealed that the player recently visited both clubs as interest in his future continues to grow.
“Kamaldeen, you know, he’s still a minor and there are a lot of interests,” Jatto said to Footy Africa.“He was in Chelsea two weeks ago, he was in Genk, and we are looking for the best possible opportunity for him to develop appropriately before he turns 18.”
Because Kamaldeen is still underage, any potential move is expected to focus on development pathways, such as scholarships and academy programs, rather than an immediate professional contract.

European interest continues to grow
Soccernet.ng previously reported that Chelsea, West Ham United, and Royal Antwerp are among the clubs closely monitoring the youngster, with the London side widely considered one of the frontrunners for his signature.
Sources close to KFA have indicated that discussions have focused on a scholarship-based arrangement that would allow Kamaldeen to continue his education and football development abroad until he becomes eligible to sign a professional contract.
The midfielder’s representatives value him at around £25,000 (approximately ₦43 million), and he has also trained abroad — including a development stint in Dubai last year.

KFA prioritising development
Despite the growing interest, officials at Kwara Football Academy insist that the youngsters’ long-term development remains the priority.
The academy has maintained that any decision regarding Kamaldeen’s future will be guided by what offers the best environment for his growth, both on and off the pitch.
For now, the talented midfielder remains one of the most sought-after young Nigerian players, with Europe’s top academies closely watching his next step.
