Chidera Ejuke: Where Super Eagles star ranks among La Liga’s best dribblers

Published on by

Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke has enjoyed a promising start to the 2026-27 season with Spanish side Sevilla, Afrik-Foot reports.

Ejuke was heavily linked with a move away from Sevilla during the summer and came close to leaving the club, with Belgian side Anderlecht one of the suitors at the time.

However, the move eventually broke down over personal terms. The Super Eagles winger was also linked with several other clubs as he entered the final year of his contract at Sevilla.

Unless he agrees a new deal, Ejuke could leave the Spanish club as a free agent at the end of the season. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the 28-year-old has already made six La Liga appearances this season, although only one of those has been as a starter.

He has mostly been used from the bench, coming on as a substitute five times, but he has still managed to make an impact.

Ejuke has scored once this season, finding the net in Sevilla’s 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in their second league game of the campaign.

However, his contribution has gone beyond his goalscoring numbers, with the winger also standing out in his ability to take on and beat opponents.

Ejuke: Where does Super Eagles star rank among La Liga’s best dribblers?

Ejuke is known for his pace and willingness to take on defenders and the Super Eagles winger often looks to run at opponents and use his dribbling ability to create space and cause problems for the opposition, and that has continued this season.

According to statistics from StatMuse, Ejuke currently completes 3.80 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga this season.

That figure puts him fourth among all players in the league. The statistic is even more impressive considering how little game time Ejuke has received compared with the other players around him in the rankings.

He has played fewer minutes than every other player in La Liga’s top 25 for completed dribbles per 90 minutes and despite starting just once, Ejuke has managed to maintain an impressive dribbling output whenever he has been given an opportunity.

Which players rank above Ejuke?

Ivorian youngster Yan Diomande currently leads the list with 5.70 completed dribbles per 90 minutes. The highly rated winger, who has emerged as one of Africa’s most valuable young players, made a high-profile move to Real Madrid this summer.

Diomande has had a slow start to life at the Spanish giants, but his dribbling numbers show the ability he possesses, and he will be expected to grow into his new role as the season progresses.

Karim Adeyemi is second with 4.39 completed dribbles per 90 minutes. The Barcelona forward has also enjoyed a positive start to the campaign despite having his minutes managed as he rotates in and out of the team.

Adeyemi has continued to show his quality when given opportunities and remains one of the league’s most dangerous players in one-on-one situations.

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal comes in third with 4.20 completed dribbles per 90 minutes. The Spanish superstar has continued to take La Liga by storm and has once again shown his ability to beat defenders with his superb control and quick feet.

After an impressive campaign last season, Yamal will be hoping to take another step forward and make a much bigger impact for Barcelona this term.

Ejuke will now hope to build on his promising start and earn a more regular place in Sevilla’s starting XI. His performances could also play an important role in determining his future, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Super Eagles forward will be hoping to continue his good form when Sevilla return to La Liga action after the international break against Levante on October 12.
