Italian Serie A side Como are plotting a summer transfer move for Nigeria-eligible defender Alessandro Marcandalli, Afrik-Foot reports.

Marcandalli experienced significant development under manager Daniele De Rossi last season. Following his return from a loan spell at Venezia, he quickly established himself as a mainstay in the starting eleven.

The 23-year-old center-back featured in 32 matches for Genoa, contributing two assists.

His qualities were on full display throughout the campaign; Marcandalli is a composed ball-playing defender characterized by positional discipline and dominant aerial prowess.

His performances earned consistent plaudits from Italian legend De Rossi, who tipped the youngster to secure a move to a bigger club in the near future. If recent reports are to be believed, that prediction could materialize this summer.

Como Eyeing Marcandalli

According to a report by Pianeta1893, Como have registered a serious interest in the defender.

The club is looking to bolster theie squad following an exceptional Serie A campaign, which saw them finish fourth and secure Champions League football.

Como believe the young defender’s skillset is a perfect fit for their system and are reportedly prepared to invest significantly to secure his signature.

Currently valued at €14 million on Transfermarkt, Marcandalli represents an affordable target for a club bolstered by the financial rewards of Champions League qualification. However, it remains to be seen whether Genoa will be willing to entertain offers.

Born to an Italian father and a Nigerian mother, Marcandalli is eligible to represent either nation.

Although he is currently listed as an Italian player, he remains eligible to switch his international allegiance to the Super Eagles since he has not played for the Italian senior team.

Marcandalli has previously acknowledged a deep connection to Nigeria influenced by his mother, though he is yet to make a final decision regarding his international future.
