Super Eagles and Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface could be set for a shock return from injury this season, Afrik Foot reports.
The 25-year-old joined Werder Bremen last summer on the transfer deadline day, sealing a loan move away from the Bay Arena.
However, he struggled at the Weser Stadium, assisting two goals in eleven games, whilst concerns of him being unfit and overweight continued to grow.

Victor Boniface: Super Eagles star set for training return
Boniface’s last game for Werder Bremen came on the 7th of December. After, he went for further checks on the knee that sidelined his transfer to AC Milan in the summer.
It was then revealed that the former Union St. Gilloise striker was nursing a damaged cartilage in his right knee, where he previously suffered a cruciate ligament injury.
He agreed to undergo surgery in January and was operated upon by Dr Christian Fink in Innsbruck, Austria.

Since then, he’s been on his rehabilitation journey, documenting the process on social media, even returning to individual training at Leverkusen.

Werder Bremen’s sporting director, Peter Niemeyer, remains cautious, stating it is still “impossible to predict” his exact return date, as the priority is ensuring he is 100% fit to avoid recurring issues.
However, German outlet BILD reports that Boniface will return to Werder Bremen on Tuesday to begin individual training, with his gaze fixed on a return to first-team action at the end of April.

It appears the Nigerian forward has made huge strides in his recovery journey, and his return will be a big boost for Werder Bremen, who are currently 14th on the Bundesliga table.
