Crystal Palace vs Liverpool: Preview, team news, tips & H2H

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool sees Senegalese forward Ismaila Sarr watch from the treatment room as the Eagles welcome the Merseysiders to London.

His groin injury keeps him out until after the international break, and Palace are also without the suspended Jean-Philippe Mateta when the game kicks off at 3:00 pm WAT on Sunday, November 8, 2026.

That leaves the spotlight on Alexander Isak, the Swedish striker, who is the Premier League’s second-highest scorer behind Erling Haaland and is about to meet the division’s leakiest defence.

Liverpool arrive after losing at home to Arsenal and away to Fenerbahçe, while Palace sit 18th, in the relegation zone and level on points with Manchester United.

Crystal Palace and Liverpool Form and Context

Palace have lost their last three league games without scoring: 0-5 at Brighton on October 18, 0-2 at home to Newcastle on October 25 and 0-2 at Tottenham on October 31.

They have conceded 21 goals in nine games, the most in the division and the most after nine games in 18 Premier League seasons.

Thursday brought some relief in the Europa League, where Daichi Kamada equalised in the first minute of stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim after Adam Wharton was sent off.

At Selhurst Park, Palace have won one of four league games and have conceded in each of their last six home league matches, a run that began in May.

Liverpool lost 0-1 to Arsenal on November 1, then went down 2-3 at Fenerbahçe on November 4 after leading twice and conceding three set-piece goals.

They are fifth on 15 points, nine behind Arsenal, and their away record is far healthier than their home one.

Wins at Ipswich, Bournemouth and Brentford make three in a row on the road, and they have scored in 12 straight away league games, compared with one home win in five.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Head-to-Head

Liverpool won the last meeting 3-1 at Anfield on April 25, with Isak, Florian Wirtz and Andy Robertson, who has since joined Tottenham, scoring.

Palace had the better of 2025/26 before that, beating Liverpool in the Community Shield on penalties after a 2-2 draw, 2-1 at Selhurst Park on September 27 and 3-0 at Anfield in the EFL Cup on October 29.

In Premier League games since 1992/93, Liverpool have won 21 of 34 meetings to Palace’s seven, and Palace have won only three of 17 home games in the fixture.

The biggest result in the fixture is Liverpool’s 7-0 win at Selhurst Park on December 19, 2020.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Team News and Predicted XI

Crystal Palace

Mateta serves a three-match Premier League ban for his 13th-minute red card at Tottenham, which also rules him out of the games against Coventry and Hull.

Sarr, Chadi Riad and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also out, so Jørgen Strand Larsen, who is back from an ankle injury, should start up front, with Pierre Sage saying he can play 60 to 75 minutes.

Wharton’s Europa League red card is a UEFA sanction rather than a Premier League ban, and every predicted line-up has him in midfield.

Liverpool

For Liverpool, Ryan Gravenberch has a heel fracture, and head coach Andoni Iraola called him the only doubt, describing it as day to day and a matter of pain.

Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitiké, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni are out, so Trey Nyoni is likely to keep his place beside Alexis Mac Allister.

Isak, Wirtz, Cody Gakpo, Milos Kerkez and Ronald Araujo should return after Iraola rotated in Istanbul.

The Managers: Pierre Sage and Andoni Iraola

Sage was appointed on June 15 on a three-year deal after winning the Coupe de France with Lens and being named Ligue 1 Manager of the Year.

He has used 27 players this season, more than any other Premier League manager, and talk about his future has grown with three straight league defeats.

Iraola, 44, replaced the sacked Arne Slot on June 4 on a deal to the end of 2027/28, after taking Bournemouth into European qualification for the first time.

He is unbeaten in 13 Premier League away games in 2026, counting his Bournemouth spell.

Tactical Preview: Palace’s Back Three Against Liverpool’s Press

Palace line up in a 3-4-2-1, yet the shape has not stopped them facing 79 more shots than they have attempted, the widest gap in the league.

Liverpool’s 4-2-3-1 should find space on Palace’s right, where Bradley Barcola, the France winger, will attack the wing-back from the left.

Set pieces are the obvious pressure point after Istanbul, and Iraola warned that Selhurst Park’s narrow pitch drags throw-ins and long balls into the box quickly.

Palace’s best route is Kamada and Yéremy Pino feeding Strand Larsen between the lines, with Tyrick Mitchell, their top league scorer on two goals, arriving from left wing-back.

Without Mateta and Sarr, though, Palace have fewer ways to hurt a Liverpool back four that kept two clean sheets in its last five league games.
