Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been linked with a move to former Italian champions Juventus, Afrik-Foot reports.
The Nigerian shot-stopper is coming off a stellar campaign with Udinese, during which he registered ten clean sheets in 30 Serie A appearances.
Last season, the former Watford man was undoubtedly one of the finest keepers in Italy; without his brilliance, Udinese would have faced a much more difficult fight for survival.

His impressive form has naturally attracted interest from several clubs, with Juventus emerging as a potential destination.
The Bianconeri are looking to rebuild following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign that saw them finish sixth, missing out on the Champions League.
While Michele Di Gregorio served as the first-choice goalkeeper last term with 30 league appearances, the pursuit of Okoye suggests Juventus may be looking to make a change. But is this the right move?
Michele Di Gregorio vs. Maduka Okoye: Who is better?

If Maduka Okoye is being targeted to replace Michele Di Gregorio, it implies that the Nigerian is viewed as the superior option.
There is only a two-year age gap between the two; Okoye is 26, while the Italian is 28. However, there is a notable physical disparity: Okoye stands at 197cm, significantly taller than the 187cm Di Gregorio. This height advantage is valuable, as it provides a greater wingspan and makes it easier to reach difficult shots.
In terms of data, SofaScore ratings favor the Super Eagles star, who averaged 6.98/10 compared to Di Gregorio’s 6.9.
While it is true that a goalkeeper is often only as good as his defensive line—and Udinese possess a squad of lesser quality compared to Juventus—Okoye’s higher rating is telling.

The statistics also shows a contrast in their seasons. Okoye made 81 saves compared to Di Gregorio’s 61. This is expected, as Okoye’s side was frequently under pressure, naturally forcing him to face more shots.
The goals prevented metric tells a more comprehensive story, as this metric measures a goalkeeper’s effectiveness by comparing goals conceded to the expected goals (xG) based on the quality of shots faced.
By this yardstick, Okoye is significantly more effective, recording 4.4 compared to Di Gregorio’s 0.6. While the Juventus keeper does edge out the count for clean sheets, keeping three more than the Nigerian, the underlying numbers suggest Okoye’s impact is higher.
Finally, in terms of ball distribution, Okoye showed a higher long-ball success rate in Serie A. His average of 6.9 accurate long balls per game is well ahead of Di Gregorio’s 3.6, which means that the Super Eagles star is highly comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Okoye is valued at just over €9 million, with two years left on his contract at Udinese. It is left to be seen if the Nigeria will eventually make the step up.
