Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has warned his players against complacency ahead of their AFCON 2027 qualifiers, Afrik Foot reports.
The three-time African Champions have been drawn into AFCON 2027 qualifiers Group L alongside the Taifa Stars of Tanzania, the Barea of Madagascar, and the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.
The group stage fixtures for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers will run across three FIFA international windows [21 September – 6 October 2026, 9 November – 17 November 2026, 20 March –30 March 2027].

AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Eric Chelle warns Super Eagles
Ahead of Nigeria’s qualification journey for the AFCON, Chelle has cited a problem that plagued the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualification campaign, and told his players that Africa no longer has minnows.
As such, the players have to step up in every game to ensure they participate in the next edition of the AFCON.
“Tanzania have already qualified for the AFCON, so this is a group of three. If you play a draw, you can have some problems,” the Franco-Malian tactician told Austin Okon-Akpan.

“Tanzania may give us problems, just as they did against Morocco, so this is not a small team,” Chelle continued.
“Madagascar, we know them as a good team because they beat Nigeria in 2019.
“With Guinea-Bissau, you cannot say there is a small team in Africa now.
“So you have to be focused on every game and every team. You have to do the job; this is not easy,” the former RC Lens defender concluded.
