Former Super Eagles and Leeds United centre-back, Sam Sodje, has weighed in on Mohamed Salah’s announced exit from Liverpool, Afrik Foot reports.
The Egyptian moved to Anfield from AS Roma for €42m, and what would unfold for the next nine years would blow people’s minds.
Salah has gone on to score 255 goals and provide 122 assists in 435 games for Liverpool while winning the English Premier League title twice.

Mohamed Salah: Sam Sodje weighs in on Egyptian’s Liverpool exit
The former Chelsea winger was in the final year of his contract last campaign, but he churned out 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 games to help Liverpool win their 20th league title.
Salah was then awarded a new two-year contract, but his performance dipped, as did that of the entire Liverpool team. So far this term, he’s been able to score just five times in the English Premier League.
Four days ago, the four-time Premier League golden boot winner took to his social media page to announce he’d be leaving Liverpool this summer.

The announcement did elicit different opinions from fans of the club and opponents worldwide, but Sodje believes it’s the right time for the player and the club to part ways.

“No, no, I think it’s perfectly right. I think he has given his best, and I think the club as well, they understand where he is. There’s nothing wrong with him saying it now,” the 46-year-old said in an interview with Footy Africa.
“The fans will miss him, the Premier League will miss him, but I don’t think he has any bad blood.
“I think he’s going at the right time. It’s always nice to go on a high, and I think he’s going on a high.
“He’s up there with the best. His numbers can tell you exactly what he has done. He’s definitely up there, top two.
“What he has done for Liverpool single-handedly—he won them trophies season in, season out. He will go down as one of the best players ever to play for Liverpool.

“Let’s not read too much into it. Once your time is right, your time is right.
“He’s not the same Mo Salah of two, three years ago. We all know that; age has come as well. But what he has done—nothing can change that. Let’s make him go on a high. We’re very proud of him.
“What’s next for him? It depends on his mentality. Does he still want to go and compete at the highest level?
“Does he want to stay in Europe, or does he just want to go and relax and get more money?
”If you ask me, because of the life after sport that I know, I would prefer him going to Saudi Arabia to make some more money. But that is a personal decision,” Sam Sodje concluded.

While Liverpool are no longer in the race to win the English Premier League, they still have to compete in the UEFA Champions League.
