Super Eagles and Napoli's striker Victor Osimhen is at the heart of a transfer saga that has gripped European football.

The Nigeria international's blistering form in Serie A, taking in a league-winning 2022/23 campaign, placed him firmly on the radar of some of the continent's biggest clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain emerging as the most ardent suitors.

The French giants, reeling from the departure of Kylian Mbappé, see Osimhen as the ideal replacement to spearhead their attack.

They are, however, unwilling to meet Napoli's asking price, leading to a deadlock in negotiations that has opened the door for Premier League giants Chelsea to revisit their interest in the 25-year-old.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in the Nigeria international, with reports on Tuesday suggesting they wish to include Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku in potential deal to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge.

Kalou counsels Osimhen against PSG move

Former Ivory Coast international and PSG forward Bonaventure Kalou, brother of Chelsea legend Salomon, has offered something of a warning to the reigning CAF Player of the Year.

“It won't be easy for him,” Kalou told Afrik-Foot in an exclusive interview. “Paris is a demanding environment, and the fans expect immediate results. Osimhen is a talented player, but he will need time to adapt and prove himself.

“I don't know if he is the striker who will win the Champions League for PSG. He is a player who needs the team to play well for him to give his best.

“Ligue 1 is a physical league, with tough defenders, which he knows from his time at Lille. It won’t be easy for him, but he is an experienced striker.

“He could manage. He will just need to score goals early on to win everyone over because the environment at the French capital club is very complicated. (Former PSG star Jay-Jay) Okocha can tell him more.”
