FC Porto make big move in securing Moffi’s services permanently

2004 UEFA Champions League winners FC Porto are already putting in the work to sign Super Eagles star Terem Moffi, Afrik Foot reports.

The 26-year-old joined the Dragons from OGC Nice on a six-month loan during the winter transfer window, although the option to make the move permanent at the end of the loan season was included in the contract.

In 15 games for Francisco Farioli’s side, Moffi has found the back of the net twice.

FC Porto contact OGC Nice over Terem Moffi transfer

Porto have been unfortunate with injuries this season. After signing Luuk de Jong to complement Samu Aghehowa last summer, the veteran Dutch striker suffered an inner ligament tear in September.

He returned to action in October, before suffering an ACL tear two months later. Aghehowa would suffer the same fate in February, hence the club’s pursuit of Moffi.

Moffi, meanwhile, fell out with the OGC Nice fans after he was physically and racially abused, and the club failed to defend him.

According to Bolana Rede, Porto are prepared to make decisions on the future of Moffi and De Jong.

The former Barcelona striker is back in personal training, but will not be able to play again this season. He was signed on a one-year contract and will be a free agent this summer if Porto fails to open talks.

For Moffi, there’s an eight-million-euro buy clause in the loan deal that saw him join Francisco Farioli’s side.

The club are keen on keeping the Nigerian at Estadio do Dragao permanently, but are unwilling to pay that amount, and have contacted the striker’s parent club over the possibility of negotiating a lower transfer fee.

FC Porto are currently top of the Portuguese league, and have been crowned Champions with two league games left to play.
