Super Eagles and Coventry City midfielder Frank Onyeka has received an applause from his club’s coach Frank Lampard, Afrik Foot reports.

The 28-year-old only just joined the Sky Blues during the winter transfer window, and after playing 75 minutes in Coventry’s top of the table win during the weekend, Onyeka did even better against West Bromwich Albion today.

The Brentford loanee played 86 minutes at the Hawthorns, breaking up play and keeping Coventry’s back four safe. After the game, Onyeka was given the Player of the Match award, a testament to his impact on Frank Lampard’s side.

Frank Lampard lauds Frank Onyeka’s impact in West Brom win

While the Nigerian midfielder didn’t score or assist a goal, everything ran through him at the centre of the park, and Lampard was impressed with the effort.

“The first was great, good transition from a great tackle from Frank (Onyeka) and then a great ball from Milan and a run from Ephron, which is stuff we talk about a lot,” Frank Lampard said in quotes revealed by the Coventry Telegraph.

“We actually mentioned it with this game. We were not sure whether they would play a back four or a back five, but if it was a four, we thought we could run through the back line a bit. And Ephron did, and his timing was great, and it was a calm finish as well.

“And then Rudi’s, I’m delighted for Rudi because his form is improving. His injury problems this year have been the only reason he hasn’t had the year that we all wanted and expected for him because he’s a high talent.

“And then he showed that confidence to keep driving with the ball and not try to make the pass too soon, and then hit an incredible strike. So I’m delighted for him individually.”
