Super Eagles and Coventry City midfielder has revealed his gratitude to former Tottenham Hotspur coach Thomas Frank for bringing him to the English Premier League, Afrik Foot reports.

Then, a Brentford coach, Thomas Frank, sanctioned a €10m move to bring Onyeka from FC Midtjylland after the Bees gained promotion to the English top-flight from the EFL Championship.

The 28-year-old played 78 games under the Danish manager before going on loan to FC Augsburg, and when he returned to the Gtech Community Stadium, Frank had moved on to Tottenham, where he spent seven months before he was replaced by Igor Tudor.

The AFCON 2023 silver medallist revealed he was happy to achieve his life-long dream of playing in England.

“I think that jump from Denmark to England happened so soon because it was not something that I expected at that point, but I was really happy that I had a chance to come to England,” Onyeka said in an interview with the Coventry Telegraph.

“Yeah, I think he [Thomas Frank] helped me a lot. He spoke to me, allowed me to play games. But it wasn’t just him; it was a lot of people around the club. And you know, for me, it’s a love. It’s a club that is family orientated and quite similar to how things are here.

“But Thomas Frank really helped me as a player and as a person as well. He tried to teach me things, trying to improve my game.

“Brentford felt like home, being there so long, and leaving them twice wasn’t easy. I made lots of friends, including the amazing staff, and it wasn’t easy,” the Coventry City midfielder concluded.
