Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has weighed in on his side’s European ambitions following their win against Tottenham Hotspur, Afrik Foot reports.
The 29-year-old was on the scoresheet at Craven Cottage this evening, sidefooting a brilliant attempt into Gugliemo Vicario’s bottom corner to put Marco Silva’s men two goals up after Harry Wilson had broken the deadlock after just four minutes.
Iwobi previously opined that the only way for Fulham to achieve their goal of European football is to keep winning games, and they’ve taken a step further following a victory in the North London derby.

Iwobi eyeing European football with Fulham
Speaking after the game, the former Arsenal man, no stranger to London derbies, revealed how much a victory in games of such magnitude means.
“Another London derby, a special moment when we play in front of our fans, we are grateful we were able to get that result today,” Iwobi said in quotes revealed by Jack Kelly.

“We feel we controlled the game and created a lot of opportunities to score, but if you don’t take them, it becomes shaky. Credit to us, we were able to stay strong towards the end.
Iwobi’s goal was a thing of true beauty, but the pass from Harry Wilson set the strike up, and the Welshman got a bout of praise from his teammate.
“H is a special player, when he has the ball, we know he will create something or score. We give him that trust and freedom to do as he pleases.

“The goal? Unique – that’s the best way to put it. I don’t think anyone has groins to open up their hip and side-foot it like that. When H passes to me, I had one though to side foot it. I do it in training, so my team-mates weren’t surprised.”
“We were ambitious from the start of the season, and we need to stay consistent to get to Europe.
“We see quality in training every day, we need to bring that into matches. We need to stay mentally strong and keep together,” the one-time FA Cup winner concluded.
